“New Mexico State University is a caring community transforming lives through discovery,” said NMSU President Garrey Carruthers. “This ranking reflects our efforts to provide our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel, long after graduation. This is where our students find themselves – who they are and what they want to be.”
Washington Monthly ranks institutions based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, which includes recruiting and graduating low-income students, research and service.
NMSU highlights for 2014 were in the social mobility and service categories. NMSU was listed as 19th in improved graduation rate and 59th in Reserve Officer Training Corps rank. NMSU has both Army and Air Force ROTC.
