“We are excited to get a coach of great experience and character in Andy Richman,” said Coach Martin. “He comes to us from a very successful championship program and not only has experience as an offensive line coach but also as an offensive coordinator. Our program got better with Coach Richman’s addition.”
In 2012, VSU garnered its third national championship in large part due to Richman’s offensive line that helped the Blazers rush for 40 touchdowns and 218.9 yards per game. In 2011, Richman coached a Blazer offensive line that only allowed 11 sacks, the fewest in school history.
Before his time at VSU, Richman was the offensive line quality control coach for Wisconsin in 2008-2010. As a member of the Badgers’ coaching staff, Richman assisted with offensive line and tight end duties, and was responsible for the defensive scout team. He also assisted with recruiting and with the evaluation of practice and game film.
Richman will be no stranger to the Sun Belt Conference as he spent a season as the offensive line graduate assistant coach for Louisiana-Lafayette. His responsibilities with the Ragin’ Cajuns included coaching the ULL centers and offensive guards as well as coaching on the punt and kickoff return teams.
Richman was also a top candidate for the offensive line job at California [Berkely] in 2012 after his team rushed for 5.4 yards per carry and tallied 40 touchdowns.
