Courtesy of NMSU LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State head coach Marvin Menzies announced today that forward Anthony January will get further medical treatment for his injured ankle that will force him to miss the 2014-15 basketball season.
A 6-8 sophomore transfer from Los Angeles, Calif./Taft via Cerritos JC suffered the injury during preseason practice with the Aggies. “Obviously not having Anthony will have a huge impact this season,” said Menzies. “But more importantly, this will allow him to get healthy as soon as possible and have a full recovery.” NM State will seek a hardship waiver for January because of the medical condition. January was a four-star recruit and high school all-American coming out of Los Angeles’ Taft High School. He averaged 22 points and 13 rebounds as a senior in leading his team to a 29-5 overall record. The game will air on Comcast throughout the state of New Mexico and will also be on the radio throughout the state on the Aggie Sports Network with the ‘Voice of the Aggies’ and Hall of Fame announcer Jack Nixon giving the play-by-play action.
