And I don’t think I’m alone in that sentiment.
The Aggies will enter the 2013-14 campaign as a heavy favorite in the Western Athletic Conference in Marvin Menzies’ seventh year. And that’s not just because the league is taking a step back from a competitive standpoint.
The Aggies return a very talented team, perhaps the best group since NMSU’s 2010 team that nearly upset Michigan State. NMSU brings back its two best players from last year’s WAC championship squad – junior guard Daniel Mullings and 7-foot-5 sophomore center Sim Bhullar.
There were times last year when Bhullar would gather the ball around the rim and, rather than use his towering size, he’d put the ball on the floor in order to gather himself. Entering his sophomore season, he can only get stronger.
Players are allowed to work out on a limited basis with coaches for the next two months. Strength and conditioning are two things the Aggies are focused on individually this summer.
