The site credited Menzies for coaching up the Aggies to a 71-64 Battle of I-10 victory over UTEP after trailing the Miners by nine in the second half, without four key players sidelined by long term injuries.
Menzies credited his players on Saturday, saying he was “really excited about their growth (Saturday) night the way we stepped up.”
But writer Tommy Lemoine summed it up, “while the players themselves certainly deserve great credit, it’s the eighth-year coach who earns our Coach of the Week nod for putting them in position to win despite everything pointing towards a different outcome.”
The Aggies are in action again on Saturday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they face Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. The game will be available for viewing on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
