“Ash has been playing great these last few weeks,” Aggie head coach Ivan Fernandez said. “I’m very proud of her and she certainly has earned this honor.”
She began the season by going 2-0 during NM State’s home tournament, the Aggie Invitational, in singles and was named co-champion of the top flight alongside Alcaraz after both reached the final match.
Shrivastava was also invited to participate in one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in women’s tennis, the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships hosted by UCLA, where she went 3-0 in the pre-qualifying round to advance to the qualifying round this week.
She swept all three matches including matches versus the 105th-ranked player in the nation, Kelsey Dieters of Kentucky, Boston College’s No. 1 player Jessica Wacnik and Pepperdine’s Michaela Capannolo.
“Having a player from NM State and the WAC at the All-American Championships and playing well is a great honor,” Fernandez said.
Shrivastava and the rest of the squad will next play in the Central Region Tournament in Albuquerque, N.M. from Wednesday, Oct. 15, through Sunday, Oct. 19.
