“Emily has worlds of potential,” Trakh said. “She’s a great 3-point shooter and an excellent ball handler, she will bring a work ethic that will be infectious on our team. She is an excellent student who will major in kinesiology and will be a good representative of this university.”
Harris played one season at New Mexico Junior College, where she was an all-American honorable mention, a first team all-region V pick and a first team all-conference selection. She was also named MVP of the NMJC Thunderbird Classic. She helped her team win the Western Junior College Athletic Conference in 2013-14, averaging 14.8 points per game, while shooting 47.7 percent from the field. Harris and the Thunderbirds were 25-5 overall and 13-1 in league play in 2013-14. In high school, Harris played for Cibola High School in Albuquerque, N.M. She was the 2013 Female Athlete of the Year at Cibola. Harris was also a three-time all-state and all-district player, while earning first team all-metro twice. She was named to the North/South All-Star team as a senior.
“Harris is an excellent power forward who has a great motor and work ethic,” Trakh said. “She will compete for minutes at the power forward sport being an excellent rebounder and scorer. Kassandra is also an excellent student who will be a bio-chemistry major.”
Davis played two seasons at McLennan Community College. As a sophomore, Davis averaged 13.9 points per game and 6.9 assists per contest. She was named a first team all-Conference selection, a first team all-Region V pick and a WBCA honorable mention all-American. During her freshman year, Davis averaged 11.2 points, 2.42 rebounds and 4.39 assists while appearing in all 31 games, while earning second team all-Conference. In high school, she averaged 10.2 points, 5.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds playing for coach Shirretha Nelson. Davis was a four-time all-Tournament selection and was named first team all-district, first team all-region and District Newcomer of the Year.
“Davis is a very quick athletic point guard who is a distributer and scorer, she is experienced, smart and a tremendous asset to the team,” Trakh said. “Shanice is an excellent student who will major in business with an emphasis in accounting.”
