“We are very happy for Emma,” NM State head coach Kathy Rodolph said, “She has been very consistent for us hitting in the two hole. She was especially clutch this weekend and battled hard in every at bat.”
Adams had at least one hit in each of the Aggies’ five games this past weekend, including two against Kansas and three against Bradley. After going hitless in the first game of the season, Adams is now on a nine-game hitting streak.
She had eight hits in 18 at bats for a .444 batting average this weekend. Adams had two doubles, one home run, eight RBIs and two stolen bases over the five games and posted a .722 slugging percentage and .524 on-base percentage.
Adams began the weekend with a two-RBI game versus Weber State on Friday. She then had three RBIs against Kansas on Saturday and another three RBIs in the tournament closer versus Bradley on Sunday.
Adams also slammed her third homer of the season against the Braves on Sunday. She finished her sophomore campaign in 2014 with only one home run all season.
After two-consecutive home tournaments to kick off the season, Adams and the rest of the NM State squad now hit the road for the first time this year, traveling to Tempe, Ariz., for the Diamond Devil Classic hosted by Arizona State this weekend.
The Aggies play Minnesota and Indiana State on Friday, Boise State and Colorado State on Saturday and conclude the tournament by meeting the host and 16th-ranked Sun Devils on Sunday.
