LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State football team finished off the 2013 season by holding off the Idaho Vandals, 24-16, in Aggie Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Aggies finish the season with a 2-10 record while the Vandals finish at 1-11.

Senior Desiree Scott was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Senior Stephanie Ziegler, senior Ciara Brown and redshirt sophomore Bradley Nash each earned all-tournament honors.

The Aggies advance to the championship match on Wednesday evening.

New Mexico State senior middle hitter Desiree Scott was named WAC Player of the Year, while Seattle U’s Iris Ivanis was named Freshman of the Year. New Mexico State head coach Mike Jordan was named WAC Coach of the Year.

Ross-Miller tallied a career-high 26 points as the New Mexico State men’s basketball team defeated UTEP, 77-68, in the Don Haskins Center, Saturday, Nov. 23, sweeping the Miners for the first time since 2006. The Aggies improve to 5-1 while the Miners fall to 3-2.

Utah Valley falls to 18-14 overall and 11-5 in WAC play.

Courtesy of NMSU Athletics Facebook Forty-five years ago this month, NMSU’s Pan American Center opened for the first time. The Pan Am has been home to the men’s and women’s basketball teams and the NMSU volleyball team since 1968 and it has hosted thousands of other events. The arena also has hosted the NCAA Men’s Basketball Midwest Regional, state high school basketball tournaments and hundreds of concerts featuring some of the top entertainers in America including George Straight, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Pearl Jam and Notorious B.I.G. When the facility was constructed, the price tag was $3.5 million and was part of a $22 million construction program for the entire university, which included Corbett Center and two observatories on campus.
