LAS CRUCES, N.M. – For the second time this season, the New Mexico State softball team was awarded the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week honors by the league office for the week of March 24-30. Senior catcher Alyssa Ruiz was named Hitter of the Week while redshirt sophomore Karysta Donisthorpe earned Pitcher of the Week accolades. The award is a first for both players.

The award, announced Tuesday, was for McBride’s performance during the week of March 17-25.
Representing the western region, the pitcher and first baseman helped her team go 6-1 during the week with a .688 batting average (11-for-16). She hit four home runs, two doubles and tallied 16 RBI. In the circle, McBride worked 27.2 innings and struck out 36 batters. The senior from Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., is currently hitting .452 on the season with seven home runs, five doubles and 26 RBI. She has struck out 86 batters in 62.2 innings in the circle. McBride joins Rachel Rodriguez, Corrin Green and Amy Bergeson as part of the Aggies 2014 signing class. The four each signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Aggies starting next fall. Courtesy of New Mexico State University A $1 million donation from businessman Stan Fulton will help New Mexico State University fund installation of a new, synthetic turf at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The new turf is expected to improve player development, help with player recruitment and increase community accessibility to the stadium.

Assistant Coach Tamara Inoue joins us next to discuss how the women's basketball team did when they were in Las Vegas as well as the upcoming plans for next years season. Last, we have a special treat as we went out on the streets of Las Vegas and we share that experience. LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State’s Patrick Pfister was named Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 10-16 by the Western Athletic Conference announced Tuesday.
Courtesy of New Mexico State University LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State football team, along with the NMSU Grounds Department will team up on Thursday, March 20 from 8 a.m. to noon, to plant trees on the east side of Aggie Memorial Stadium. Twenty grounds department employees and approximately 50 Aggie football players will plant 33 Chinese Pistache trees during the morning hours.

And, then the celebration just stopped. Moments after New Mexico State's Aggies won the Western Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament, with a 77-55 victory Saturday against the University of Idaho, word came that former Aggie great Sam Lacey died. Lacey was 65. The Aggies practiced for about two hours, going through individual position drills, team passing drills, 7-on-7 and special teams.
