“Honored, Humbled, Fired Up, Thankful, Appreciative, Nostalgic, Emotional……Would be the first things that come to mind after one of the more special weekends I’ve ever had,” said Aggie Head Coach Brian Green. “Starting with the golf outing here on campus, the Friday social hosted by “The Game” and then the activities Saturday, it was incredible.”
Coach Green mentioned that the alumni were very generous throughout the weekend and supportive in the vision he has for the program.
“It really hit me on Saturday morning, when the 2015 players and all of the alums assembled and had the opportunity to address them all. As a former Aggie Athlete and NM State graduate, to come back as the head coach and address former greats that I had only read about, was beyond an honor,” Green said. “We are so thankful to our administration, our coaching staff, our players and our Diamond Club for assisting in a truly remarkable two-day period.”
Coach Green also mentioned the excitement the alumni had meeting Anaheim Angel Collin Cowgill at Green’s house and how fun it was for everyone to take batting practice with new A.D. and former Aggie Triple Crown winner Mario Moccia.
“Another thing that stood out for the alumni was getting to know an Aggie coaching legend Jim Kwasny who flew in from North Carolina to attend,” Green said. “That just illustrates what many of us Aggies already know; that NM State and Las Cruces are truly special places.”
The Aggies open the season, Friday, Feb. 13 in the Lamar Tournament in Beaumont, Texas. The Aggies take on Illinois at 12 p.m. (MT) then face Lamar at 3 p.m. (MT) that day.
