This is the second WAC Hitter of the Week honor for the Aggies as Emma Adams won the award earlier in the season.
“Corrin was clutch for us this weekend,” Aggie head coach Kathy Rodolph said. “As a freshman she gets tougher at the plate every week and we are very proud of her battles in Las Vegas.”
Green had a low-key start to the week after going 1-for-4 versus host UNLV, but the freshman would turn it on beginning on day two of the tournament. She finished 3-for-3 versus UL-Monroe with a single, double, two runs scored, two RBIs and the first of two game-winning home runs in the week.
With NM State down 5-6 to the Warhawks in the sixth inning, Green came up and belted a two-run shot over the left-field fence that gave the Aggies a 7-6 lead they would not relinquish.
Although Green only had one hit the following day versus Wisconsin, it was the biggest hit of the game and perhaps the week for NM State, another two-run shot, this time a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh that capped off a four-run final inning for the Aggies and gave them a thrilling 8-7 win over the Badgers.
Green concluded the week by going 2-for-3 against DePaul with an RBI and a run scored as NM State once again won in the final inning. This time Green led off the top of the seventh with a single and eventually scored what would be the game-winning run.
Green and the rest of the Aggie squad welcome North Dakota and Tulsa to the NM State Softball Complex this week for round robin play starting Friday and concluding on Sunday.
