Last Thursday, Siakam led NM State with his fifth double-double of the season, netting 18 points and 11 rebounds with two blocks in handing Grand Canyon its first WAC loss (85-63) of the season.
He narrowly missed consecutive double-doubles as he scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds, including seven on the offensive side, to go along with two blocks and two assists as the Aggies knocked off defending WAC regular-season champion Utah Valley, 69-44.
Siakam averaged 13.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists while shooting 54.5 percent on the week.
“Pascal is just an active player,” said NM State coach Marvin Menzies. “He’s one of those guys that at the end of the game you go ‘Oh, I didn’t realize he had that many blocks or all those rebounds.’
“His activity and his energy are so efficient and you add his height and his steadily improving skill set and it’s not surprising he’s starting to receive some accolades.”
Siakam is the WAC’s leader in field goal percentage (.552) and blocked shots (1.95 per game), while ranking second in the league in rebounding (7.7 per contest).
The Aggies are back in action on Saturday night when they host Texas-Pan American. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Pan Am Center.
