The Aggies would only manage three hits on the night, with no NM State player collecting more than one hit, while the Gaels marked eight hits. But a couple of costly St. Mary’s errors and a timely hit by Aggie senior transfer Kris Koerper gave NM State the victory. LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men’s basketball team avenged a two-point loss to Kansas City earlier in the season by defeating the Kangaroos, 71-48, Thursday night inside the Pan American Center.

Courtesy of New Mexico State University LAS CRUCES, N.M.--Head track and field coach Orin Richburg announced Monday that Dominique Joiner has signed a letter of intent to join NM State next season.
Joiner is a sprinter and attended Southwest High School in Fort Worth, Texas. While there, she competed in the 60, 100 and 200-meter dash as well as the long jump. “This is a great athlete we added,” head coach Orin Richburg said. “She is going to come in and add some depth to our program. Joiner is an outstanding sprinter and she is also an academic student so she is a great addition to our team.” Her career-best in the 100-meter dash stands at 11.82. Joiner’s best time in the 200-meter dash is 24.33, and her fastest 60-meter dash sits at 7.95. Joiner is interested in majoring in engineering when she joins NM State next season. Courtesy of the WAC Lacey Rother, a junior catcher from Long Beach, Calif., got a hit in each of the Aggies’ five games last weekend at the Hotel Encanto Invitational. She had two home runs on Sunday, including a game-winning grand slam against cross-border rival UTEP, helping the Aggies to an 8-6 win. She finished the weekend hitting .385 with three runs and five RBI while slugging .846. Courtesy of the WAC DENVER – New Mexico State junior guard Danesia Williamson has been named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 3-9. This is her first WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and the second of her career. The San Diego, Calif., posted a pair of career highs in scoring last week to lead the Aggies to a 1-1 record on the week. Williamson opened the week with a career-high 33 points, half of her team’s total output, to go along with five rebounds, three assists and a steal in a nine-point loss to league-leader Idaho. She then eclipsed that career high with 36 points, three assists, two steals and two blocks in a win over reigning WAC champion Seattle U. For the week, Williamson averaged 34.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 block per game, and was 20-of-23 (87 percent) from the free throw line. She entered the week averaging 8.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. NM State was defeated 4-3 by Saint Mary’s and came back for a come-from-behind win over I-10 rival UTEP off the bat of junior Lacey Rother. The Aggies went 2-4 in opening weekend.
Courtesy of New Mexico State University SEATTLE – Red shirt junior center Tshilidzi Nephawe posted a career-high 22 points to lead the New Mexico State men’s basketball team to a 92-77 win over Seattle U, Saturday, Feb. 8 in Key Arena. The Aggies are now 18-8 on the year and 7-3 in Western Athletic Conference play. Seattle U falls to 11-11 overall and 3-6 in league play.
